Dedicated to Cemetery Preservation in the Great State of Ohio

Welcome to my blog about cemetery preservation in the Great State of Ohio! Thanks to so many wonderful people, many of whom are volunteers, Ohio's burial grounds - large and small - in cities and in obscure places, are being improved one by one. Almost forgotten gravesites are being located; and stories of our ancestors are again being told.

My Favorite Quotations

"Show me the manner in which a nation cares for its dead, and I will measure with mathmatical exactness the tender mercies of its people, their respect for the laws of the land and their loyalty to high ideals."

By William Gladstone

"A cemetery shelters so much love, hate, desire, greed, averse, disappointment, friendship ---- all lie buried here.
All passions are stilled, all tumult ended. Peace reigns here forever.
Death is here, yet it is not here. It is the silent City of the Dead, yet it is a living, breathing thing.
Those we love cannot die as long as they live in our hearts."

Announcing Holycross Family Reunion tentatively scheduled for August 25 - 26, 2012 In Or Near North Lewisburg, Champaign County, Ohio

SAVE THE DATE

The bi-annual Holycross Family Reunion for all descendents of John Holycross (b. VA 1740) and his five sons is tentatively scheduled for 25 and 26 August 2012 in or near North Lewisburg, Ohio (exact location TBD).

Monitor the website for details, contact information, and RSVP’s.

Visit: www.holycrossfamilyreunion.com

Please share this information with other family members.

The sons of John Holycross all emigrated to the North Lewisburg, Ohio area in 1810 with their entire families. One son, Abram, later emigrated to Indiana and, ultimately, Illinois. Because of the huge numbers of Holycross descendents still located in the North Lewisburg vicinity, more attendees should be available.

Everyone with a Holycross among their ancestors is encouraged to come and meet your extended family.
