"A cemetery may be considered as abandoned when all or practically all of the bodies have been removed therefrom and no bodies have been buried therein for a great many years, and the cemetery has been so long neglected as entirely to lose its identity as such, and is no longer known, recognized and respected by the public as a cemetery. 1953 OAG 2978."

Update from Scott Andersen - Resumed Clean Up Work at the Dean Cemetery - South Salem, Buckskin Township, Ross County, Ohio.

Scott Andersen and his wife, Venus, have resumed their work at the Dean Cemetery near South Salem in Buckskin Township, Ross County, Ohio.  He has an update with new photographs to share that show the progress they have made thus far.

Thanks to their new work clearing away the overgrowth, they uncovered a gravestone that had been hidden:

"More stones show up all the time.  Only one has been easy to identify.  It belongs to a Mary McArthur, who died in 1818 at age 66.  I posted the picture and made a memorial for her on FindaGrave."
Below are photographs thus far from his October, 2012 working trips to the Dean Cemetery:
