Exploring Almost Forgotten Gravesites in the Great State of Ohio

Dedicated to cemetery preservation in the great state of Ohio

"A cemetery may be considered as abandoned when all or practically all of the bodies have been Removed therefrom and no bodies have been buried therein for a great many years, and the cemetery has been so long neglected as entirely to lose its identity as such, and is no longer known, recognized and respected by the public as a cemetery. 1953 OAG 2978."

"Preserving Ohio's Cemeteries" -- A New Facebook Group with a Focus on Bringing Together 'Like Minded" People Who Care and are Concerned About Preserving Ohio's Gravesites and Cemeteries

A new Facebook Group, "Preserving Ohio's Cemeteries," has been created.

It is amazing how many new Facebook Groups have emerged in the past few months.  I feel now is a good time for a group that focuses on preserving Ohio's gravesites and cemeteries.  To bring together people of "like minds" who desire to share with others their experiences, ideas, and stories on this subject.

"Preserving Ohio's Cemeteries" Facebook Group will act as a 'hub' bringing together those who care, and will in turn, inspire others to participate in expanding awareness of the needs that so many of Ohio's cemeteries and individual gravesites have ranging from improving grounds maintenance, repairing or replacing markers, finding ways to locate lost gravesites, learning proper gravestone cleaning techniques, and helping others to become involved.

Too much Ohio history has already been lost through time and neglect.  That trend needs to be reversed, and only we an do it.

Pleake a moment to check out "Preserving Ohio's Cemeteries" on Facebook and consider joining to participate in discussions, share your experiences, and learn from others.

Thank you!
