Exploring Almost Forgotten Gravesites in the Great State of Ohio

Dedicated to cemetery preservation in the great state of Ohio

"A cemetery may be considered as abandoned when all or practically all of the bodies have been Removed therefrom and no bodies have been buried therein for a great many years, and the cemetery has been so long neglected as entirely to lose its identity as such, and is no longer known, recognized and respected by the public as a cemetery. 1953 OAG 2978."

Featuring the "Friends" Cemeteries in Champaign County, Ohio listed on "Find A Grave"

As most of us who have ever searched on "Find A Grave" have come to learn quite often we see two cemeteries listed with the same name. A few examples come to mind and one is in Champaign County, Ohio

The title links to the "Find A Grave" listing of two "Friends" Cemeteries in Champaign County. The top one just states it is in Champaign County and the lower one listed also includes the identification of "North Lewisburg."

If the top listed "Friends" Cemetery is accessed we learn that it also is known by other names which are
Lapham-Ryan Cemetery or Old Mount Tabor Cemetery. No location, however, is provided for it. Unfortunately, "Find A Grave" does not offer the ability to include a township name in a description when a cemetery is located in a township but not a town.
