Exploring Almost Forgotten Gravesites in the Great State of Ohio

Dedicated to cemetery preservation in the great state of Ohio

"A cemetery may be considered as abandoned when all or practically all of the bodies have been Removed therefrom and no bodies have been buried therein for a great many years, and the cemetery has been so long neglected as entirely to lose its identity as such, and is no longer known, recognized and respected by the public as a cemetery. 1953 OAG 2978."

"Don't Forget!!"

"I will be speaking at the Shawnee Nature Club meeting Tomorrow Evening, Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 7pm at the Hillview Retirement Center in Portsmouth, OH. I plan on presenting photographic work from my wanderings of local (& not so local) historical cemeteries, with gravestone mineralogy/petrology and weathering thrown in for good measure. Please feel free to attend!

Also, the following Saturday, October 19 at 3pm, I will be conducting a tour of Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth, OH. With the focus on interesting historical stones, mineralogy/petrology and weathering, I hope that attendees will enjoy my perspective and contribute local historical tidbits!

Hope to see you there!"
