Exploring Almost Forgotten Gravesites in the Great State of Ohio

Dedicated to cemetery preservation in the great state of Ohio

"A cemetery may be considered as abandoned when all or practically all of the bodies have been Removed therefrom and no bodies have been buried therein for a great many years, and the cemetery has been so long neglected as entirely to lose its identity as such, and is no longer known, recognized and respected by the public as a cemetery. 1953 OAG 2978."

PO Box 865
Elyria, OH 44035-0865
Instructions:
Inform Kathy of the cemetery or part of a cemetery you are willing to photograph.

Remember to take a friend or family member with you for safety reasons.

If your camera has a Portrait setting please use this to increase the focus on the stone and not surroundings. This is a better setting than landscape mode for this purpose.
Take digital photos on sunny or partly cloudy days and do not make any adjustments to them.

Watch the glossy stones as your image may reflect on their surface and show up on the photo.
If you need to take the picture from a slight angle to avoid reflections.

Photos are to be taken of all stones; standing, fallen, broken, illegible.

Keep photos organized and submitted by cemetery name.
When submitting photos include your name and contact info so we can thank you for your work."

If you already have stone photos in your collection how about sharing them. Printed photos can be scanned and e-mailed / copied and snail mailed.

CDs should be mailed to the Chapter address stated above. ** Remember many hands make the work light and easier!
So plan on joining this great effort! **
