Exploring Almost Forgotten Gravesites in the Great State of Ohio

Dedicated to cemetery preservation in the great state of Ohio

"A cemetery may be considered as abandoned when all or practically all of the bodies have been Removed therefrom and no bodies have been buried therein for a great many years, and the cemetery has been so long neglected as entirely to lose its identity as such, and is no longer known, recognized and respected by the public as a cemetery. 1953 OAG 2978."

Urgent Need for Volunteers to Help Clean Up Chapel Heights Memory Gardens, Marion Township, Marion County, Ohio

Thanking Sandy Mader Holladay for bringing to my attention the deteriorated condition at the Chapel Heights Memory Gardens in Marion County, Ohio.
From Sandy's Blog:

"If you have family members buried there, I encourage you to get in the car and go visit, see if you can find your loved ones graves."

The Cemetery is:

Chapel Heights Memory Garden
2622 Marion-Upper Sandusky Road
Marion, Ohio  43302
Phone #: 740-383-1709

"There are several entrances one if off Marion-Waldo Road."

"Can you help?  Many different things need to be done to clean up this cemetery, it will require work and organization.

Volunteers are needed.  There will be physical work needed, mapping, photographing and lots of organizing.  This is a wonderful way to give back, to work for a solution.  Anyone interested in history, genealogy, community service, as well as those with family members buried here are encouraged to join the effort.  If you're not local or close enough to drive to Marion to physically take part, please consider making a monetary donation to The Genealogy Society to help."
