Exploring Almost Forgotten Gravesites in the Great State of Ohio

Dedicated to cemetery preservation in the great state of Ohio

"A cemetery may be considered as abandoned when all or practically all of the bodies have been Removed therefrom and no bodies have been buried therein for a great many years, and the cemetery has been so long neglected as entirely to lose its identity as such, and is no longer known, recognized and respected by the public as a cemetery. 1953 OAG 2978."

W.P.A. Cemetery Plat Maps posted for Allen County, Ohio on the right sidebar of the blog

The W.P.A. -  Works Progress Administration cemetery plat maps for Allen County, Ohio have been posted on the right sidebar of this blog.  The link to the collection is at the top of the listing for these types of maps.

This collection of plat maps is unusual because it does not include every map that was drawn. That is because several pages of cemetery plat maps are drawings of the cemeteries themselves but contain no text on them.  That means there are no veterans names listed or shown on the map to denote the location of burials.

Also, only a few of these map pages have page numbers on them.  As a whole, the appearance of most of these maps suggest that at some point they may have been re-drawn at a later date.

Thus, only the maps that contain veterans names and their burial locations are included in this collection.
