Dedicated to cemetery preservation in the great state of Ohio

"A cemetery may be considered as abandoned when all or practically all of the bodies have been Removed therefrom and no bodies have been buried therein for a great many years, and the cemetery has been so long neglected as entirely to lose its identity as such, and is no longer known, recognized and respected by the public as a cemetery. 1953 OAG 2978."

Latest Status Update Regarding Floral Hills Memory Gardens cemeteries in Ross and Pickaway Counties, Ohio

Click on title to read the latest news about both Floral Hills Memory Gardens cemeteries in both Pickaway County and Ross County, Ohio.  I had not been aware of the Pickaway County location until after reading this news story that appears today online on the "ChillicotheGazette.com."  The story was written by Jona Ison, a staff reporter for the newspaper.

Below is a short excerpt from this article:

"The attorney general has more than 160 complaints between the two Floral Hills cemeteries — one on U.S. 23 south of Chillicothe and the other on U.S. 23 north of Circleville — ranging from issues with grave markers paid for but never received to deplorable conditions at the cemetery, including trash, uncut grass and sinking stones and graves."

I encourage anyone who has ever had to deal with cemetery maintenance problems to please read the complete news story for a much deeper insight into the problem and the steps that are being taken to resolve it by concerned people who care enough to go the extra mile.

Also, if you are a "Facebook" member, please visit (for Ross County location):

The Ross County Floral Hills Memory Gardens is located at:
  4284 US RT 23 Chillicothe, OH 45601.

(Currently, there needs to be cemetery 'merging' done on "Find A Grave" for the Ross County Floral Hills Memory Gardens as there are 3 listed.  I am referencing the one with 1,746 interments as the correct listing.)
