Spotlighting a Once Missing Gravestone for Jane Patterson buried at Madison - Truro Cemetery in Madison Township, Franklin County, Ohio

Thanking Brent Nimmo for bringing to my attention that the once presumed lost gravestone of Jane Patterson, wife of William Patterson, buried at the Madison - Truro Cemetery in Franklin County, Ohio, is missing no more.  There had been reports posted online that her gravestone could not be found. 

 Brent has recently re-located the gravestone and posted a newer photo of it on "Find A Grave."

Brent created a Madison - Truro Virtual Cemetery on "Find A Grave" called "Madison Truro Stones Found Buried" and the "found stones" now number 79!

Update from Brent Nimmo: Seventy-Five Buried Gravestones Now Found at Madison - Truro Cemetery in Franklin County, Ohio

Brent Nimmo explores almost forgotten gravesites regularly when he visits the Madison-Truro Cemetery in Franklin County, Ohio. He more than walks the grounds and lingers to pay his respects to those long departed souls buried there, he stays for a whole day and digs down deeper -- with remarkable results finding and unearthing buried gravestones that have been hidden from view for decades.  

We have covered in past posts Brent's project's progress, so it is befitting that we congratulate him today for reaching the milestone of locating 75 buried gravestones at Madison - Truro Cemetery.  

Brent has gained loyal followers of his work and some have joined him.  Because he does not have the means himself to repair and re-set the stones he finds, Brent photographs them - standing them up for the photographs if possible (see the Eli Miller stone below) and then re-buries them with orange flags around them until such time as they can be brought back up and properly set upright.  This is a labor of love for Brent and the results prove it.  

Thank you Brent for all you are doing to bring the Madison - Truro Cemetery back to life and for giving it the renewed respectability that it so richly deserves.

Spotlighting the Virtual Cemetery of "Madison Truro Gravestones Found Buried" by Brent Nimmo

The Madison Truro Cemetery in Franklin County, Ohio is listed on "Find A Grave."  It is showing  97 interments.  

This fact does not sound like anything out of the ordinary except when you consider that in reality this 'official listing' reveals only half the cemetery's true story.  

The rest of the story is that Brent Nimmo has created a "virtual cemetery" entitled:  "Madison Truro Stones Found Buried."

To date, Brent has uncovered 33 grave markers that have sunken out of sight at Madison Truro Cemetery.  

I am not sure how many of these 33 grave markers that Brent uncovered are also found listed on the cemetery's main "Find A Grave" page, but it is helpful to know that both lists exist for cross-reference purposes; thanks to his extensive efforts.

Green Lawn Cemetery of Columbus, Ohio - One of the Cemeteries Affected by the Storms that Struck Central Ohio This Past Weekend

As those of us who live in Ohio already know, the change in weather this past weekend and the last couple of days have brought us much needed rain, however,  unfortunately with some of the rain came a 'wall of wind' -- straight-line windstorms, as our TV and radio weather forecasters tell us are called Derecho.  

The aftermath from these storms have left a wake of extensive damage done to property including at Ohio's cemeteries.

Brent reports Green Lawn is working on extensive clean up efforts at the cemetery.  

I hope to receive more reports about the restoration of the stones that were damaged at Green Lawn from Brent and other sources.
