"The Marietta Mounds tour will begin at the Mound Cemetery, located at 5th and Scammel Streets in Marietta and will require transportation to the Capitolium, Quadranaou, and Sacra Via sites.

The cost-per-person is $10.

***Reservations are required in advance and will only be accepted via online registration or over the phone payment by calling 740-373-4180. On-site and cash payments will not be accepted.

The Castle follows all CDC and Ohio Department of Health Guidelines. Masks are required and 6 feet social distancing is mandatory between unfamiliar groups or persons."

Spotlighting Civil War Veteran Pvt. Charles William Flowers - born in England; served in the 21st Ohio Infantry during the Civil War; and died and was buried in New Zealand

Sharing this remarkable story from New Zealand about Pvt. Charles William Flowers who served in the Ohio 21st Infantry during the Civil War being the only Civil War veteran buried in Invercargill, New Zealand. 

His Find A Grave memorial also poignantly recounts his unique life.

"The four photos set on tiles and fixed to Flowers’s headstone are of the union flag used in the civil war, the emblem of the 21st Ohio Infantry Regiment, Charles Flowers and his medal.

Bouquets of red carnations, Ohio’s official state flower, were placed on Flowers’s grave at Saturday’s memorial service."
