Exploring Almost Forgotten Gravesites in the Great State of Ohio

Dedicated to cemetery preservation in the great state of Ohio

"A cemetery may be considered as abandoned when all or practically all of the bodies have been Removed therefrom and no bodies have been buried therein for a great many years, and the cemetery has been so long neglected as entirely to lose its identity as such, and is no longer known, recognized and respected by the public as a cemetery. 1953 OAG 2978."

Lingering Thoughts: Walnut Creek Cemetery in Perry Township, Fayette County, Ohio -- Potter's Field and Outstanding Tombstone Photo Requests on "Find A Grave"

Sharing some recent photographs from Richie Wilson whose grandfather is Richard Wilson of New Martinsburg and the Perry Township Trustee who is the caretaker of the Walnut Creek Cemetery near the village.

Richie mentioned that the back area of the Walnut Creek Cemetery is "Potter's Field."  I didn't know that!  There are no visible gravestones there.  I do not know if written records exist that details the names and other information about those buried at "Potter's Field" at Walnut Creek.  Hoping that if someone does know, we can learn more about it.
In the meantime, below are links to Walnut Creek Cemetery followed by the photographs shared by Richie Wilson.
