"There will be no SCCOGS chapter meeting at the library this month, instead we will have our annual cemetery "invasion" on Saturday, June 17, 2017."
"We will be meeting at Maple Hill Cemetery in Springfield Township.
The cemetery is across the street from the Springfield Church of the Brethren located at 3500 Albrecht Ave, Akron, Ohio.
Our newsletter editor's description of the location - the cemetery is located on north side of Albrecht Avenue east of Canton Road and between Marion (going north) and Lessig (going south).
Our Cemetery, Chair Kelly McKnight, says it is a small cemetery and our group should be able to finish it that day.
Kelly will be there around 9:30 a.m., so come between 9:30-10:00 a.m. and stay until we are finished or come whenever and leave when you need to.
Bring your lunch and a chair or blanket to sit on. There are a few convenience stores and small restaurants in the area if you prefer to eat there.
Kelly will be directing us in collecting information from memorials which will eventually go into another one of our cemetery publications. Publications are one way the chapter makes money which is used in promoting genealogy such as our donations towards speakers and books for Akron-Summit County Public Library.
Please join us for this activity. Get outside in hopefully some good weather with your fellow family historians.
