"Pvt. Martin Kean of the 9th Michigan Cavalry was wounded in the Skirmish of Two Ridges on July 26, 1863, as the Union forces were attempting to capture Gen. John Hunt Morgan, whose Confederate forces had entered Ohio. Kean was cared for by a Wintersville family, but died a month later on Aug. 27, the only death of the military effort."
