She also contributed burial information for the Boone-Sears Cemetery in Freeport Township, Harrison County, Ohio on the usgwarchives website. Sadly, Darlene Small Gilligan passed away April 8, 2021.
On May 5, 2021 the Amsterdam, New York newspaper "The Recorder" published a poignant life story obituary for Darlene.

Darlene Small Gilligan indeed led an active life in so many ways, not the least of which is reflected through her tremendous research work.
