Exploring Almost Forgotten Gravesites in the Great State of Ohio
Dedicated to cemetery preservation in the great state of Ohio
"A cemetery may be considered as abandoned when all or practically all of the bodies have been Removed therefrom and no bodies have been buried therein for a great many years, and the cemetery has been so long neglected as entirely to lose its identity as such, and is no longer known, recognized and respected by the public as a cemetery. 1953 OAG 2978."

Sharing this story from Tuscarawas County, Ohio. - Saving the cylindrical shaped monument of Dr. Noah Webster Yoder by Tim & Stacy Foor of Hallowed Ground Cemetery Preservation LLC
Dr. Noah Webster Yoder's 9 foot tall cylindrical shaped monument towers over the other markers dotting the hilly landscape at the Shanesville First Reformed Cemetery in Tuscarawas County, Ohio.
However, it was evident that the monument, erected to honor a Civil War veteran of the 51st Regiment, Company "G" O.V.I., had to be rescued soon from what would have been a disastrous fate of falling and crashing down to the ground.
The spotlight story in "The Bargain Hunters and Wooster Weekly News" published May 11, 2023 provides the details and a photograph of how this historic and unique monument was saved by Tim Foor and his wife Stacy Foor of Hallowed Ground Cemetery Preservation LLC.
