Exploring Almost Forgotten Gravesites in the Great State of Ohio

Dedicated to cemetery preservation in the great state of Ohio

"A cemetery may be considered as abandoned when all or practically all of the bodies have been Removed therefrom and no bodies have been buried therein for a great many years, and the cemetery has been so long neglected as entirely to lose its identity as such, and is no longer known, recognized and respected by the public as a cemetery. 1953 OAG 2978."

"We are working on several projects, and I am asking for your help with one of them.

From county records to articles in The Western Star, much evidence exists that the Warren County Infirmary maintained its own graveyard on their property and many residents, mostly paupers, were buried there.

However, we have not been able to definitively prove the location of that graveyard. We find it ironic we have such good knowledge of public and private cemeteries and graveyards in Warren County, but we haven’t yet discovered the location of the one graveyard that was owned by the County!

If you have any memory, knowledge, or evidence of the location of the infirmary burying ground, please let us know."
