Exploring Almost Forgotten Gravesites in the Great State of Ohio

Dedicated to cemetery preservation in the great state of Ohio

"A cemetery may be considered as abandoned when all or practically all of the bodies have been Removed therefrom and no bodies have been buried therein for a great many years, and the cemetery has been so long neglected as entirely to lose its identity as such, and is no longer known, recognized and respected by the public as a cemetery. 1953 OAG 2978."

A Link to Clinton County WPA Cemetery Plat Maps has been Posted on the Blog's Right Sidebar

Images of the Clinton County, Ohio WPA Cemetery Plat Maps have been posted on the right sidebar of the blog in alphabetic order among the other Ohio counties listed.  These images were saved in the .JPG format.

Most Clinton County map pages have page numbers in the lower right corner, but a few do not.  There are a few newer maps included as well and noted as such.

This set of maps was created in a similar format adopted for the maps of other Ohio counties.

For each photo album, the title arrangements from left to right are the project title name, followed by the township name, and name(s) of the cemeteries in that township.

The descriptions for each township album show the actual names given each map page in ascending number order.

The map pages that contain more than one cemetery with more than one township represented on the same page are saved separately under the title: "Multiple Townships - Smaller Cemeteries" and placed at the end of the Clinton County Cemeteries Collection created for the county.

"I've just learned how to use the new Find A Grave phone app, and it will add the GPS coordinates to the memorial! This will really help pinpoint the location of the grave on a Google Earth map.

Here's the location of my great grandfather's gravestone in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington that I cleaned and reset today.
