Spotlighting "R.I.P." - Respectful Interment Preservations - Upcoming Presentation "Preserving History Cut In Stone" - Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 2:00p.m. in Pomeroy, Meigs County, Ohio -- And, Updated Website


"I will be speaking to the Return Jonathan Meigs Chapter of the DAR on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Meigs County Library. 

The subject will be Preserving History Cut In Stone.

The time will be 2PM, in Pomeroy, Meigs County, Ohio."

The website of "R.I.P." has been recently updated to include a very nice slideshow gallery of before restoration and after restoration photographs of gravestones that have been cleaned, repaired, and re-set that show remarkable results of improvement in the appearance of the gravestones' inscriptions.  
The lettering and dates of several markers were unreadable prior to the completion of the restoration work.

Announcing Upcoming Restoration Work at the Rittman Pioneer Memorial Cemetery in Rittman, Wayne County, Ohio

Sharing great news regarding the Rittman Pioneer Memorial Cemetery located in Rittman, Wayne County, Ohio which has 127 interments listed for it on "Find A Grave."  (Per Find A Grave, the cemetery is 84% photographed.)

The Rittman Historical Society has announced on its Facebook Page:

"A COMPANY RESPECTFUL INTERMENT PRESERVATIONS HAS BEEN APPROVED TO FINISH REPAIRING THE LAST EIGHT HEAD STONES. A MOTION WAS MADE AND APPROVED BY ALL ATTENDING MEMBERS TO PAY FOR THIS PART OF THE RESTORATION OF THE CEMETERY. MY THANKS GO OUT TO EVERYONE IN RITTMAN & WADSWORTH. I WOULD LIKE TO PERSONALLY THANK EVERY PERSON IN THE RITTMAN,WADSWORTH AREA FOR THEIR DONATIONS."

 Some of the surnames of those buried at the Rittman Pioneer Cemetery include:  

Albers, Blackwell, Calame, Fritz, Garver, Gish, Hatfield, Immel, Johnson, Lance, Leatherman, Miller, Ollinger, Pifer, Savage, Shank, Spitler, Wagaman, Wright, and Yockey.

Congratulations to Jay Russell of Respectful Interment Preservations (R.I.P.) on his Appointment to the Ohio Genealogical Society's Cemetery Committee

"Attended my first meeting at the Ohio Genealogical Society as a trustee. It was great. I have been appointed to the Cemetery Committee and as the liaison for the OGS chapters in Athens County, Vinton County, and Meigs County. I am excited for this opportunity to contribute to the OGS."

"R.I.P. has completed a Powerpoint presentation for the work done in the Poe Cemetery

I will be making the presentation to the Montville Township Trustees on Jan, 17, 2013 at 7:00 PM. - Emergency Services Building.

This building is located right next to the township hall and people should use the same parking lot as they would have used on the previous date.
The work was done at no cost to the township as an example of the type of work that could be done to preserve their cemeteries. 

 Anyone wishing to see the preentation is welcome to come or I can be scheduled to make this short presentation or a similar presentation on work completed on the Pioneer Baptist Cemetery in Richland Co., Ohio."

Sharing a Before and After Look at the Gravestone of Civil War Veteran T. M. Trout Buried at the Poe Cemetery in Medina County, Ohio.

Inscription on the Civil War Marker is:

"Mosser's Co. 101 PA INF GAR 1861-1865"

This "Find A Grave" memorial for T. M. Trout has two photographs of his gravestone posted.  

One was posted in March of 2009 by the memorial's contributor, which is a "Before" cleaning photograph.  

The second photograph was posted by Mr. Jay Russell of "Respectful Interment Preservations" on September 14, 2012 following Mr. Russell's cleaning and straightening of this upright white marble government gravestone. 

It is my pleasure to share this memorial for Civil War veteran T. M. Trout whose stone has been properly restored with care and respect.
